black art maroon pick joonbug

Our Logo- “The Pick”

Our logo, otherwise know as The Pick, is a collaboration with artist Joonbug, a Black artist whose work can be seen in both galleries and on buildings. For this image, we drew our inspiration from West African Adinkra Symbols. As an art organization, we specifically wanted to reference DUAFE a pick symbol that represents aesthetic beauty. Within the pick there are two circles, both of which represent community. The inner circle represents the community of ancestors that are within us and walk with us. The exterior circle represents the communities that we support us and that we serve. The two are inextricably connected, like an infinity symbol.

The Sandbranch Collection

We are especially excited to feature our legacy project, Sandbranch, an original musical that will serve as a model for the sustainable production of Black theatre. By purchasing our limited edition Sandbranch merch, you are directly contributing to the development of this pivotal work.

The Black Futures Program

To show our investment in the future of Black art, a percentage of your purchase goes directly the artist.
